Attribution & Licensing

The Reliford Principle (TRP) combines several published paleomagnetic / geomagnetic intensity model and compilation datasets plus limited synthetic variants used only for internal validation. Original intellectual credit remains with the cited authors of those source works. Processed outputs (indices, derived alignment products, figures, compiled JSON summaries) are released under CC BY 4.0 (see License page) while the site code is MIT; branding/naming policies are in `NAMING_AND_ATTRIBUTION.md`.

Source Datasets

CALS10k.2 Korte, M., Constable, C. (2011). Continuous geomagnetic models for the past 10 millennia: 2. CALS10k. Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 12(5). DOI: 10.1029/2010GC003384. License: Original publication (standard scholarly citation; no explicit open license). Notes: Used for contextual comparison / alignment windows.

GGF100k (Reference placeholder) Global geomagnetic field intensity compilation extending to 100 ka. License: Original publication (citation required). Notes: Provide definitive citation (authors, year, DOI) once confirmed.

PADM2M Ziegler, L. B., Constable, C. G., Johnson, C. L., Tauxe, L. (2011). PADM2M: A penalized maximum likelihood model of the 0–2 Ma axial dipole moment. Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 12(10). DOI: 10.1029/2011GC003819. License: Original publication (citation required). Notes: Time‑span provides long baseline context; resampled subsets used.

2206 reference model EarthRef Digital Archive (ERDA) dataset 2206. URL: https://earthref.org/ERDA/2206/ License: Refer to ERDA terms (citation / acknowledgement required). Notes: Referenced for cross‑comparison; confirm preferred citation string in future revision.

Synthetic test variants Internally generated signals (e.g., injected noise, controlled excursions) for validation / sensitivity. License: Not distributed; excluded from public downloads (non‑scholarly artefacts). Notes: Only appear in certain exploratory figures when toggled.

How to Attribute TRP Outputs

When using TRP indices (Charlie, Charlie Prime) or derived alignment / divergence products: 1. Cite the original source datasets you actually leverage (see above; finalize GGF100k citation). 2. Include a project attribution, e.g.: "Includes The Reliford Principle (TRP) indices Charlie and Charlie Prime (TRP Project, 2025)." 3. Provide a repository reference (version tag or commit hash) and access date. 4. Retain CC BY 4.0 notice for redistributed figures / processed JSON outputs: "Derived from TRP (CC BY 4.0) plus original source data (see citations)."

Example (extended): > This analysis uses geomagnetic intensity indices Charlie and Charlie Prime derived from The Reliford Principle (TRP, version YYYY-MM-DD, commit ) integrating published datasets including CALS10k.2 (Korte & Constable, 2011), PADM2M (Ziegler et al., 2011), and GGF100k (authors/year TBD). Processed TRP outputs are © TRP Project under CC BY 4.0; original datasets retain their original publication rights.

Pending Items

- Insert final canonical citation for GGF100k. - Confirm exact ERDA 2206 citation format. - Add DOI or archival reference once a formal TRP release is minted (update `CITATION.cff`).
